"Spay-it-Forward" is a campaign focused on combating pet overpopulation in the City of Riverside and neighboring communities through subsidized spay (female) /neuter (male) services. Sorry, but rescue groups and volume clients do not qualify for this program. At this time, pet owners who live in 92501 - 92509 zip codes are eligible for the Spay-it-Forward Campaign. 

What is it?

"Spay-it-Forward" is a campaign focused on combating pet overpopulation in the City of Riverside and neighboring communities through subsidized services.

Who is eligible:

Any individual who ...

  • owns an unaltered Cat, Pit Bull, Pit Bull "mix", Chihuahua, Chihuahua "mix" or any puppy or kitten under six (6) months of age*, and
  • meets income qualification levels, and 
  • can prove residence in zip codes 92501- 92509 by providing a current utility bill.

Services Received:

"Spay-it-Forward" cats will receive spay/neuter surgery and rabies vaccination.

"Spay-it-Forward" dogs will receive spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination and microchip with chip registration.

How it works:

Please download and complete our Spay-it-Forward Application | Spanish and return it to the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center. You can:

Applications may also be obtained at the Spay/Neuter Clinic Monday thru Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm.

When we receive your information, we will call you to confirm eligibility, collect your $20.00 non-refundable fee, and schedule an appointment.

*The Spay/Neuter Clinic at the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center identified the targeted zip codes and breeds through ongoing dialogue with Riverside County Department of Animal Services. Cats of all ages, puppies, Pit Bull and mixes and Chihuahua and mixes make up the majority of shelter population in local municipal animal control facilities.
