When the light that beamed from Angela Gomez was extinguished too soon, her family navigated through their grief by focusing on the gratitude they had for those who were there for them. Angela was killed at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas on October 1, 2017. Instead of fear and anger, her family chose love, joy, and meaning. From this experience and wanting to spread these positives with the world, Angela’s Wishes was founded.
In collaboration with The Community Foundation, which aids families and individuals to improve the community through philanthropy management, Angela’s Wishes has partnered with the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center to promote and support their Helping Paws program. Moreover, to honor Angela’s legacy, the program has been renamed Angie’s Healing Heart – Pet Therapy Program. Many have said “Angela’s presence made the world a better place to be because she lived in it”, and MSRPAC is grateful for the support from Angela’s Wishes, honored to be working alongside Angela’s family, and proud to be a part of sharing the legacy of this beautiful, fun-loving, vibrant, caring and compassionate woman.
If you know of a location that could benefit with a visit from Angie’s Healing Heart – Pet Therapy Program, please contact Beth Barnhart, Volunteer Services Manager at MSRPAC, at or 951-688-4340, ext. 315. To ensure that this life-enhancing program continues to thrive, visit petsadoption.org to donate toward its operating budget.

THURSDAY, FEB. 4, 2021 – A coalition of shelter organizations is offering a second, special surgery day for pet owners in Riverside County. The date is Feb. 23, also known as World Spay Day.
The group, named the Animal Welfare Coalition of Riverside County, offered its first spay day last November, an event that focused on spaying cats. This time surgeries will be for cats and dogs at some of the organizations. Other agencies may select to perform only cat surgeries.
Pet owners will get a special, discounted rate – just $25 – on the event day.
Participating organizations include: Animal Friends of the Valleys (Wildomar), Animal Samaritans (Thousand Palms), Loving All Animals (Coachella), Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center (Riverside), Moreno Valley Animal Services, Palm Springs Animal Shelter, Ramona Humane Society (San Jacinto) and Riverside County Animal Services (Jurupa Valley and San Jacinto shelter locations).
Some of the organizations have pre-arranged appointments for the event. Interested pet owners should visit the websites for each organization to check on appointment availability. Demands for the appoints will likely be high and each organization has a finite number available.
The Animal Welfare Coalition of Riverside County was formed in the summer of 2020 with the mission to foster collaboration and communication between the nonprofit and government sheltering organizations to better serve the needs of pet owners and animals. The cities of Corona and Norco are also coalition members.
